A family's lawyer responds to new footage of 'kick' by GMP at Manchester Airport incident.

Updated: Jul 29

The TikTok lawyer has finally spoken out about the new video showing the events leading up to his client being 'kicked' in the head.

The attorney representing the family involved in the recent Manchester Airport incident has stated that there is no justification for a police officer kicking a defenseless man in the head. This statement comes after new footage was released, showing the events leading up to the incident. Akhmed Yakoob has responded to the exclusive footage shared by Manchester Today, which appears to depict the violent altercation that resulted in a GMP officer being investigated for assault. This development follows the widespread sharing of a video showing an armed officer kicking and stomping on a man's head while he was on the ground.

Outrage was sparked by a viral clip of the incident that occurred in a car park at Terminal 2 of Manchester Airport on Tuesday (July 23), leading to several protests. However, new CCTV footage depicting the moments prior to the incident has now surfaced. The video shows chaotic scenes involving two men and multiple police officers, with one female officer being punched to the ground. A male officer is seen aiming a taser at a man and then kicking and stomping on his head while he is on the ground. Mr Yakoob, who has been updating his hundreds of thousands of social media followers about the case, has now reacted to the latest footage. The criminal attorney shared a new video on TikTok, Instagram, and X on Sunday, July 28th. In the video, he says: "After viewing the CCTV footage from Manchester Airport, I would like to say that nothing can justify a kick to the head to a defenceless man and stomp to the head. Those are my views.

"These officers are highly trained. They shouldn't be losing control or seeing red. What do you guys think?"

Mr Yakoob, who finished third in the West Midlands mayoral race in May and then ran as an independent candidate for Birmingham MP, conducted a press briefing last week regarding the incident. He informed the press that a CT scan revealed a 'brain cyst' in the individual who was apparently kicked and stomped on in the initial video, identifying him as Muhammed Fahir Ammaz. The 36-year-old solicitor is facing an investigation by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) regarding allegations he used social media to promote a false claim of racism by a young teacher during the elections in May. The SRA says the investigation is ongoing.

On Friday night The Independent Office for Police Conduct said a police constable is under criminal investigation for assault. The IOPC stressed it doesn't necessarily mean criminal charges will follow.

Responding to the new footage last night (July 28), Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham said that following the incidents in the run-up to the footage that was shared widely on social media last week, four individuals were arrested and are now on police bail.
