A man has passed away in a house fire that may have involved an e-scooter

A man has died in a house fire which may have involved an e-scooter, the fire service has said.

Firefighters responded to a fire on Ellesmere Road South in Chorlton, Manchester, around 03:00 BST on Friday.


The fire had extended from the ground and first floors of a semi-detached house, and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service was investigating the possible involvement of an e-scooter.


A man in his 70s passed away at the scene, while another man in his 30s managed to escape and was transported to Wythenshawe Hospital.

The fire was extinguished by about 07:00 BST.


Area manager Ben Levy expressed, “Our primary concern is with the family and friends of the man who tragically lost his life in this devastating incident.


“I want to commend the firefighters who worked diligently in challenging conditions to try and save lives and prevent the fire from spreading further.
