Accused 9/11 plotters see plea deal revoked

Lloyd Austin, the US Defence Secretary, has cancelled a pre-trial deal made with individuals accused of conspiring in the September 11, 2001, attacks.

In a memo released on Friday, Mr. Austin additionally stated that he would be withdrawing the authorization of the officer responsible for the military court who had signed the agreement on Wednesday.

The initial agreement, said to have included the exemption of the accused attackers from the death penalty, faced criticism from certain families of the victims.
