Day set for peaceful demonstrations in the city center of Manchester

Numerous protests are happening today in Manchester, as well as throughout the country.

Today, protests are taking place in Manchester city center. Several peaceful demonstrations were scheduled, with additional ones planned throughout the country this weekend.

One of the demonstrations happening today in the city center is titled 'Stand Up For Your Country: Enough is Enough'.Simultaneously, a counter protest named 'Stop The Far Right' is also being conducted.

A dispersal order covering the entirety of Manchester city centre has been issued by Greater Manchester Police until 7pm, granting officers additional authority to address individuals engaged in or causing anti-social behavior.

Chief Inspector Natasha Evans explained, "These powers have been granted to ensure the maintenance of peaceful protests that have been planned. Our officers are empowered to direct and counsel individuals who are creating, or likely to create, harassment, alarm, or distress to vacate the area promptly.

"While individuals have the right to engage in peaceful demonstrations, those who intend to violate the law will face consequences. For updates on Section 34, please monitor our social media platforms, and if you have any doubts, do not hesitate to approach officers on site.
