This adventure is one that the entire family can get involved in. The trail is moderately easy (1.3 miles each way along a gravel track with a steady incline on the way up), and can be managed by children aged three or up. The cave is a great choice to explore in any weather, whether it's rain or shine, as it descends 500 meters below Ingleborough mountain. Throughout the year, both the cave and the nature trail are open In total, you’ll be walking around 6 miles. Some of it is on uneven terrain, so make sure you come prepared with appropriate footwear and waterproofs if rain is likely, as well as plenty of food and drinks for the day.

On this walk, designed for adventurous and active families, we go as far as Gaping Gill, but those wishing to challenge themselves may choose to continue up Ingleborough!

They have a small shop on site at Ingleborough Cave that sells the usual amenities including souvenirs (postcards, magnets, fossils etc), hot and cold drinks, confectionary and ice cream (time of year dependent). There are toilets at Ingleborough Cave for those with a valid tour ticket on that given day. Unfortunately they only have limited facilities, so the toilets are only available to those going in the Cave on the day. The Cave tour journeys 0.3 miles (0.5km) underground, so visitors will walk a total of 0.6 miles (1km). There are two short stooping sections within the Cave, and there are no steps. The passages are well lit with floodlights throughout. The Cave is a cool 8 degrees centigrade throughout the year, so we recommend wrapping up appropriately. Please wear suitable footwear for a well-laid concrete path. Manchester Today was given full accsess to the trail and cave where we captured the stunning trail on the way up to the cave which we're able to share with you. We also managed to capture some photos' of inside the cave which was a great experiance and all-in-all great day out. We would highly recommend this location to the entire family even the four legged family members are welcomed on the trail and INSIDE the cave! But please remember to keep all dogs on the lead. Please keep in mind that although photography is allowed videos inside the cave is not permitted without specific permission in writing. Please contact Ingleborough Cave for any video queries.
