Family honors 'loving' father of three who passed away following a balcony fall

A 'loving' dad was honored by the family of a man who passed away following a fall from a balcony in Salford's tower block.

Police rushed to Black Friar Court at 8.42pm on Sunday (August 11) after receiving reports of a man falling from a balcony on the fourth floor. A murder investigation commenced once the man was declared deceased at the scene. Today (August 15), the victim was identified as William Waheed Lyall by Greater Manchester Police. His loved ones have characterized the 57-year-old as a 'loving, strong' father of three who 'worked tirelessly' for his family. In a tribute to William, his family stated:"It is with immense sadness and shock that the family of William Waheed Lyall have learnt of his unexpected death. William was loving, strong, resilient and worked tirelessly to provide for his family, not seeking recognition but wanting to see them happy.

"His children meant the world to him and he taught them that true strength comes from selflessness. As a brother, he was fun to be with and was always a shoulder to lean on. "We will miss his kindness, generous heart and his contagious hearty laughter. William may no longer be with us but his spirit, his values and his love will forever guide us.

"William leaves behind three children Aadel, Ahel, Francesco and his wife Dida. The family trusts that the police will leave no stone unturned to determine the details of this tragedy. "We await the completion of the police investigation so that we can bury William at the Salford Muslim cemetery. Rest in peace, dear William you will be forever missed but never forgotten.”

According to the police, three individuals, a 37-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman, and a 45-year-old man, were taken into custody on suspicion of murder following the incident. All three have since been bailed as the investigation continues. Detectives are continuing to urge anyone with information on the incident to come forward.
