Former BBC presenter Huw Edwards admits to producing inappropriate images of minors

This morning, Huw Edwards made an appearance in court.

Huw Edwards has admitted to three counts of producing indecent images of children in court this morning.

The former BBC broadcaster appeared 'calm and composed' in the dock as he confessed to all charges. It is alleged that the 62-year-old ex-BBC host possessed seven images, which were distributed via WhatsApp, falling under Category A - the most severe classification.

This development follows the ex-broadcaster's resignation from his position at the BBC in April 2024. Previously a prominent figure in the news industry, he was renowned for delivering major news stories to the public, including the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. Having confessed to the accusations in Westminster Magistrates’ Court, he sat gazing into the distance, his head slightly tilted upwards. He straightened his tie while Ian Hope, the prosecutor, presented the case against him. Prosecutor Ian Hope has requested that Edwards' address be "restricted" due to the "protests" outside the court, citing it as a "highly volatile situation." During the court proceedings, Ian Hope presented the case against Huw Edwards to the chief magistrate, Paul Goldspring. Follow Manchester Today on Facebook, and Instagram.
