A male student was assaulted inside a classroom at Edgar Wood Academy in Middleton when two girls used a table to injure him.

A Year Ten student, identified only as Lewis, was assaulted by two female students using a table while a teacher in the classroom looked on, as shown in video footage obtained by Manchester Today. The incident was recorded by another student.
Mr. Olaoluwa Olukoya, the teacher present in the classroom during the incident, did not protect Lewis, placing him at risk of serious injury.
Later, an email was sent to Lewis's mother which mentioned: "There was an extended tussle between Lewis and Dahlia during the lesson As a result, lewis has been issued an automatic 30 minuets after school detention this evening ( 7th March 2025 )" It is acknowledged that Lewis's mother and legal representative have already taken steps against the school's failure to protect and safeguard students. Since its opening in September 2021, Edgarwood Academy has been recognised for its ongoing issues with progressive incidents and bullying, with no actions yet taken. It is reported that the teachers lack the skills to handle such incidents, despite multiple parents having complained to the headteacher, who has yet to take action or acknowledge the occurrence of bullying by both students and staff at the school.
