Broadway at the junction with Oldham Road was taped off by police in the early hours of this morning
A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a car flipped on its side following a police chase in north Manchester.
Officers were travelling along Oldham Road in Failsworth at around 12.15am this morning (Sunday) when they spotted another car, believed to be travelling at speed.
The car failed to stop for officers and as it turned onto Broadway, it smashed into a traffic light, police said.
Pictures from the scene show the vehicle, which is believed to have been a black Skoda, on its side with significant damage.
No injuries were reported and a 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene. Broadway at the junction of Oldham Road was taped off by police for a number of hours this morning.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At approximately 12.15am on Sunday 22 January 2023, officers travelling along Oldham Road in Failsworth saw another vehicle believed to be travelling over the speed limit at the junction of Oldham Road and the Gateway.
"The car failed to stop for officers and as it attempted to turn left onto Broadway, it collided with a traffic light. No injuries were reported. And a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle dangerously."
