Man has been stabbed in north Manchester during a 'disturbance'

A significant number of police officers were present in the vicinity

There was a large police presence on a housing estate in north Manchester yesterday after a man was stabbed. It happened on Ashley Lane in Moston at around 2:30pm in the afternoon.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said officers were called to a 'disturbance.' in the area. Shortly after a man arrived at hospital with stab wounds. His injuries are not life-threatening the force said. An eyewitness said there were a large number of police vehicles on Ashley Lane in the hours afterwards. Tape had been put up with officers appearing to be standing guard outside the gate to a property, they said.

Later, specialist forensic crime scene investigation (CSI) officers were observed arriving and conducting investigations inside the cordon.


According to a spokesperson from GMP: "Yesterday afternoon (Thursday 9 August 2024) around 2.30pm, we received reports of a disturbance on Ashley Lane, Manchester." Shortly after, a man arrived at a hospital with stab wounds. His injuries are reported as non-life threatening. No arrests have been made yet, and investigations are still in progress.
