Man is in critical condition after being stabbed following car accident in Middleton

A man is in critical condition after being stabbed following a car accident in Middleton on Monday night (July 29). Emergency services responded to Rochdale Road around 20:30 pm following reports of the collision. Upon arrival, the crews discovered a man who had sustained stab wounds. He was promptly transported to the hospital from the location and is currently receiving treatment for injuries that are considered life-threatening. Locals were horrified as they ran out to assist after the collision, which they say occurred when a car was being 'chased', leading to the victim being later attacked.

According to an anonymous local resident, a friend of theirs heard the crash and rushed outside. People were trying to help the injured person by using towels and sheets to stop the bleeding before the police arrived.

"The driver of the black car attempted to flee after the crash, but someone from the white Golf that was chasing him caught up and took action against him."



Authorities and emergency medical personnel hurried to the location and secured the area. The collision occurred near the intersection with Hollin Lane, which remained blocked off until late Monday evening for further investigation A GMP spokesperson said: "We were called to Rochdale Road in Middleton, Rochdale at around 8:30pm tonight to initial reports of a road traffic collision.

 

Officers arrived and found a man with stab wounds and is currently receiving treatment for what is believed to be life-threatening injuries.

 

A scene remains in place whilst detectives continue to conduct enquiries.
