Mob attacks Holiday Inn housing asylum seekers while Prime Minister condemns 'far right thugs'

The turmoil follows a series of far-right protests that occurred nationwide on Saturday.

Following a series of far-right demonstrations on Saturday, violent disturbances erupted in several major towns across the UK, including Liverpool, Hull, and Bristol, leading to the arrest of numerous individuals.

During the unrest, a library on County Road in Liverpool was set ablaze, and local shops were looted, with an estimated 300 people participating in the disorder.

Earlier that day, Merseyside Police reported significant disorder in Liverpool city centre, resulting in injuries to several officers. Incidents included an officer being struck on the head with a chair, another being kicked off a motorcycle by a demonstrator, and attempts to assault officers with riot shields.

In Hull, four individuals were arrested after a group targeted a hotel housing asylum seekers, resulting in injuries to three officers.

Additional incidents included attacks on officers in Stoke-on-Trent, arrests for violent behavior in Bristol, and clashes between opposing groups in Belfast, where fireworks were thrown. In Blackpool, confrontations occurred between demonstrators and punks.

Earlier in the day, altercations broke out in Manchester's Piccadilly Gardens as hundreds of protesters gathered in the city center.
