Police close major road in Middleton after standoff

Greater Manchester Police close major road in Middleton after a stand off with a male.

Greater Manchester Police have raced to a major road in #Middleton after they recived reports for concern for welfare Fire and Rescue from #Heywood, #Rochdale and #Manchester also attened the scene with Northwest Ambulance service.


Greater Manchester Police Closed Rochdale Road (A664) to the junction of Nowell Road and the Junction to Clough Road.


A Male belived to be 17 years old had climbed up scoffolding that was erected at the side of a Photo-frame store near Vets4Pets and sat down and refused to come down Police then set up a cordon to keep members of the public back.


Greater Manchester Police was later able to talk the male down safely and placed him in the back of a police car but later moved him into the back of an ambluance.


The road has since reopened both ways to traffic and members of the public.
