This evening, Greater Manchester Police were accompanied by colleagues from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) in response to reports of the collision on Hollin Lane, Middleton (A6046). Transport to the hospital was needed for two individuals, one of whom had sustained a head injury. All injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening. Manchester Today spoke to local residents who pointed out that "there are no signs warning about temporary traffic lights until you are right upon them. The road was congested, and if drivers are not aware of the lights and a car ahead suddenly stops, the workers have not allowed enough time for drivers to react the lights are not visible as you approach them due to being obscured by other cars."

Another person said " Since the construction of new houses in the area, this road has experienced increased traffic. It was never as congested before the houses were built. they should consider installing speed cameras on this road, as I have observed some cars reaching speeds of at least 70 mph along this stretch. It has become a hotspot for accidents lately."
