Police quickly responded to Middleton town centre following reports of a bank robbery

Officers attended the incident at Middleton Gardens earlier today at Halifax bank.

Police have arrived at Middleton town centre this morning following reports of an 'armed robbery'.

Officers responded to the incident in Middleton Gardens at around 9.20am today (August 14). Police were called to reports of a robbery, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said. "At around 9.20am today, officers responded to reports of a robbery in Middleton Gardens, Middleton. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing."

It has been reported that the Halifax bank in Middleton Gardens is closed this morning due to the incident. Customers are being turned away as the branch doors remain shut.

At this point, GMP has not provided any additional information. Investigations into the incident are currently underway.
