Rochdale Council has launched new domestic abuse services

New domestic abuse services provides safe accommodation and support for victims and survivors, children and young people, and people who harm.

The Crime Survey for England and Wales estimated that 2.1 million people aged 16 years and over (1.4 million women and 751,000 men) experienced domestic abuse in the year ending March 2023. The police recorded 889,918 domestic abuse-related crimes (excluding Devon and Cornwall) in the year ending March 2023, a similar number to the previous year.

There were 51,288 domestic abuse-related prosecutions in England and Wales for the year ending March 2023, compared with 53,207 in the year ending March 2022.

Rochdale Council is currently seeking to broaden its services to support more domestic abuse victims. Through offering secure accommodation and assistance to victims, it aims to restore hope and support in the communities of Rochdale, ensuring that everyone has a safe haven to turn to. Rochdale Council are also expanding thier services to survivors, children and young people, and people who harm.
