Two individuals, the pilot and a passenger, lose their lives in a light aircraft accident in North Yorkshire

Police stated that the individuals who lost their lives in the tragic accident were in their twenties.



Two individuals, a pilot and a passenger, lost their lives in a light aircraft accident in North Yorkshire.

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the crash site close to Thorganby, near Selby, at approximately 9:50 am today (Sunday). Authorities reported that the two-seater light aircraft had gone down in a field.

Two men in their twenties were sadly declared deceased at the location. Authorities suspect that they were the pilot and passenger of the aircraft.

The families have been notified, and an investigation into the crash has commenced. Several roads in the vicinity are still closed as authorities conduct their inquiries.

In a statement, North Yorkshire Police reported: "We responded to an incident involving a small aircraft at a rural site in Thorganby, Selby at approximately 9.50am today. A two-seater light plane carrying two individuals had crashed in a field."

Regrettably, two individuals in their twenties, who are presumed to be the pilot and passenger, have been declared deceased. Their relatives have been informed, and the formal identification procedures are currently in progress.

There have been no additional injuries reported. We are collaborating with the Air Accident Investigation Branch to initiate a comprehensive inquiry into the situation.
