Two individuals were stabbed with a police cordon established in the city center.

Police have stated that the incident is completely unrelated to the protests that took place on Saturday.

During the early hours of this morning (Sunday), a man and a woman were stabbed in the city center. They were transported to the hospital following the incident that occurred around 12:30 am at Slate Wharf in Castlefield.

Their injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening. The Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have stated that the incident is completely unrelated to the protests that took place in the city center yesterday.

A cordon remains in place at the scene, near the picturesque Bridgewater Canal basin and The Wharf pub. Forensic specialists in suits have been observed conducting investigations inside the restricted area.

GMP are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
